Enclosed and open vehicle transport across the lower 48. Enclosed is what we specialise in — and we will tell you when open is the better call.
Which type of vehicle transport do you need?
There are two ways a car moves on a truck, and the difference is a covered trailer. Most
vehicles are fine on an open carrier. Enclosed exists for the ones that are not —
anything rare, low, freshly painted, or worth more than it would cost to repaint.
Enclosed transport — our specialty
A fully covered trailer, sealed off from weather, road debris and public view. The right
call for classic, exotic, luxury, freshly painted and lowered vehicles. Runs $400 to $800
above the open rate on the same lane.
✓ Hard-side and soft-side trailers, single-car options available
✓ Hydraulic liftgate loading for vehicles under about 4 inches of clearance
✓ Soft ties and wheel straps rather than chassis chains
✓ Required for lowered vehicles — the only option we book for them
Open transport — most shipments
The standard multi-car trailer dealerships use, and the most economical way to move a daily
driver. Industry estimates put open at 85-90% of all vehicles shipped.
✓ Door-to-door across the lower 48
✓ The only option for lifted trucks, which will not clear an enclosed trailer
✓ Same transit speed as enclosed once loaded
✓ Widest carrier availability, so shorter waits for pickup
Which service does your vehicle actually need?
Two of these are not choices. A lowered car cannot be loaded on standard ramps, and a
lifted truck will not fit inside an enclosed trailer. The rest come down to what the vehicle
is worth to you.

Enclosed transport, in detail
The long answers to the questions people ask before booking enclosed — what it costs,
what the insurance actually covers, how the car is secured, and how to check a carrier is who
they say they are.
The same on an open sedan and a single-car enclosed exotic. AMG Transport Co. is an
FMCSA-licensed and bonded broker with 13+ years in auto transport and 10,000+ vehicles moved.
✓ No deposit until a carrier is confirmed — $207.70 ($200 plus 3.85% processing), refundable until dispatch
✓ Photo inspection and an electronic bill of lading at pickup and delivery, with VIN scanning
✓ Vetted carrier with verified operating authority; in-house dispatch, so your load is not re-brokered
✓ Door-to-door across the lower 48 — Alaska and Hawaii require ocean freight and are not served
Payment is by Stripe card only. AMG never asks for wire transfers, Zelle or gift cards, and
customers never pay the driver directly. The price you approve is the price you pay — if
carrier availability or a corrected shipment detail changes the workable amount, you see the
new option and approve it before anything is charged.
Do you work with dealerships and repeat shippers?
Yes. Dealer groups move inventory on a standing programme rather than quote by quote —
auction wins, dealer trades, and customer deliveries, with orders, tracking, documents and
spend in one portal instead of a phone tree. Enclosed is common on the luxury and exotic side
of that inventory. See the dealer transport program.
Do you move freight and heavy equipment too?
Yes, through the wider AMG Endeavors operation. Vehicle transport is the focus of this
business, but full truckload, less-than-truckload and heavy haul capacity is available on the
same licensing and the same dispatch.
✓ FTL — dedicated truck and driver, direct point-to-point, faster transit on large shipments
Yes, and it is AMG Transport Co.'s specialty. Enclosed covers classic, exotic, luxury, brand-new and lowered vehicles, and runs $400 to $800 above the open rate on the same lane. Hard-side and soft-side trailers are both available, with hydraulic liftgate loading for vehicles under about 4 inches of ground clearance.
Which type of vehicle transport do I need?
Open transport is right for most vehicles and covers 85-90% of shipments industry-wide. Enclosed is the right call for classic, exotic, luxury, freshly painted and lowered vehicles. Two cases are not a choice: lowered vehicles ship enclosed only, and lifted trucks ship open only because they will not clear an enclosed trailer's interior height.
Can you ship a lifted truck or a lowered car?
Both, on different equipment. Lifted vehicles ship open transport only. Lowered vehicles ship enclosed only and usually need a hydraulic liftgate rather than ramps, because standard ramp approach angles will contact the splitter or exhaust below roughly 4 inches of clearance.
What is included on every shipment?
Door-to-door service across the lower 48, a vetted carrier with verified operating authority, photo inspections and an electronic bill of lading at pickup and delivery through Super Dispatch, and VIN scanning. No deposit is charged until a carrier is confirmed and you approve the pickup date.
Do you move freight and heavy equipment as well as vehicles?
Yes, through the wider AMG Endeavors operation. Full truckload, less-than-truckload and heavy haul capacity run on the same licensing and dispatch. Vehicle transport is the focus of this business, and enclosed vehicle transport is the specialty within it.
Do you work with dealerships?
Yes. Dealer groups run on a standing programme rather than quoting load by load, covering auction wins, dealer trades and customer deliveries, with orders, tracking, documents and spend in one portal. Enclosed is common on the luxury and exotic side of dealer inventory.
